aluen package in hive

ALUEN CAP® shakes the beekeeping health market.

A dosage change could make the acaricide developed by an argentinian worker cooperative the cheapest in the market.

On October 24th the CAP hold a conversation with the radio program Campo y Abejas (Farming and Bees) hosted by agricultural engineers Javier Fólgar Bessone and Horacio Currao. The main topic in discussion was a change in the strategic dosage of Aluen CAP®. Diego Iaconis, CPO, shares us this new mode of application.

ALUEN CAP® STRATEGIC DOSAGE

We’re talking about the reduction to a half of the Aluen CAP® dosage which will become a trend. Before, it was recommended to apply 4 strips during fall and spring but now it is considered a best practice to use only 4 a year; two during spring and two during fall. The result: an organic, approved and with excelent results treatment against Varroa, now at half the cost.

Multiple essays proved the existence of a direct relationship between the amount of strips and the time that they stay in the hive. As a result, by reducing the contact area, in other words the amount of strips, and increasing the exposure time in the hive we can achieve the same effectiveness percentages than the actual recommended amount (4 strips, during 42 days).

We found out that using two strips and extending the application period from 42 to 56 days, coming from a low load, the producer can keep healing in the cheapest possible way. Therefore the producer will be using an approved product at half the cost and cheaper than a homemade treatment, tells Iaconis in Campo y Abejas

Because of that, we can now guarantee that a hive keeping the infestation levels controlled, could apply two strips during spring and two during winter, reducing the cost to a 50% of what it used to be.

THE BEST PRODUCT IS MADE WITH APIARIAN EXPERIENCE

Since 2016 CAP is producing and selling Aluen CAP® throughout Argentina, being it’s acceptance increasing between the country’s beekeeping scene. The producers associated in the Cámara de Apicultores Pampero were the first ones to use this treatment. After that, they found out that the hives treated during fall reached spring with a null load of Varroa, with something similar happening to the end of the season.

Many producers started to remove a strip from the recommended treatment achieving the same results in the Varroa control, leading to producers increasingly treating their hives with 3 strips. In addition, not even removing them because no waste is left.

Those who used to treat the hived with handmade products now are using Aluén CAP®, an approved, organic and also cheapest product.
